NeoDym Systems
performed a systems engineering analysis and design
of the digital network of 100 1-way inbound radio
links in the 2.4 GHz unlicensed frequency band.
This is the only band for which
the frequency assignment is essentially the same for
all major jurisdictions in the world.
We reviewed many of the
different sets of regulations from different
countries and examined the following system
configurations:
- Low power narrow band
techniques
- Wide bandwidth direct
sequence (DS) Code Division Multiple Access
(CDMA) schemes
- Frequency Division
Multiple Access (FDMA) medium bandwidth
- Frequency Hopping (FH)
techniques.
We looked at the propagation
path and its characteristics, measured the bandwidth
and physical size of the multipath propagation nulls
and measured the emission characteristics of
microwave ovens.
From these analyses we were
able to develop system and signal design structures
which would hold up well in the very difficult RF
environment.
